Flaky croissants filled with thinly sliced ham and Swiss cheese, brushed with a honey-Dijon butter glaze, and baked until golden and melty.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large croissants
  • 8 slices of deli ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare Croissants: Slice each croissant horizontally but not all the way through, creating a pocket.
  • Assemble Sandwiches: Inside each croissant, place 2 slices of ham and 1 slice of Swiss cheese. Close the croissants and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Prepare Glaze: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Dijon mustard, and honey. Mix well.
  • Glaze Croissants: Brush the tops of the croissants generously with the honey-Dijon butter mixture. Sprinkle with poppy seeds and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper, if desired.
  • Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  • Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm.

Notes

  • For a different flavor, try using Gruyère cheese instead of Swiss.
  • Adding a thin layer of Dijon mustard inside the croissant before adding the ham and cheese can provide an extra tangy flavor.
  • These croissants are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 5 minutes.
