Ingredients
Scale
4 large croissants
8 slices of deli ham
4 slices of Swiss cheese
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare Croissants:Â Slice each croissant horizontally but not all the way through, creating a pocket.
Assemble Sandwiches:Â Inside each croissant, place 2 slices of ham and 1 slice of Swiss cheese. Close the croissants and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Prepare Glaze:Â In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, Dijon mustard, and honey. Mix well.
Glaze Croissants:Â Brush the tops of the croissants generously with the honey-Dijon butter mixture. Sprinkle with poppy seeds and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper, if desired.
Bake:Â Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the croissants are golden brown and the cheese has melted.
Serve:Â Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm.
Notes
For a different flavor, try using Gruyère cheese instead of Swiss.
Adding a thin layer of Dijon mustard inside the croissant before adding the ham and cheese can provide an extra tangy flavor.
These croissants are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 5 minutes.
