Chocolate Salami is a no-bake dessert popular in many European countries. It’s made with a mix of crushed cookies, cocoa powder, butter, and nuts, then shaped into a log to resemble salami. This treat is perfect for holidays or as an indulgent snack with coffee or tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the base:
    • 200g (7 oz) plain cookies or digestive biscuits, crushed into small pieces
    • 100g (3.5 oz) unsalted butter, softened
    • 100g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate, melted
    • 50g (1.7 oz) powdered sugar
    • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
    • 2 tbsp milk
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Mix-ins:
    • 50g (1.7 oz) chopped nuts (e.g., hazelnuts, walnuts, or almonds)
    • 50g (1.7 oz) raisins or dried cranberries (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed cookies, cocoa powder, and powdered sugar. Mix well.
    • Add the melted chocolate, softened butter, milk, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
    • Fold in the chopped nuts and dried fruit, if using.
  2. Shape the salami:
    • Transfer the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper or plastic wrap. Form it into a log shape, about 6–8 inches long.
    • Wrap the log tightly in the paper or plastic wrap and twist the ends to seal. Roll it gently on the counter to smooth out the shape.
  3. Chill and set:
    • Place the wrapped log in the refrigerator for at least 2–3 hours, or until firm.
  4. Slice and serve:
    • Once set, unwrap the log and dust it lightly with powdered sugar to mimic the look of salami.
    • Slice into thin rounds and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Substitute nuts or dried fruits with your favorite mix-ins like mini marshmallows or chopped candies.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 2 months.
