Ingredients

Scale
  • Casserole:
    • 2 cans (12.4 oz each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
    • 1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted
    • 4 large eggs
    • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
    • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
    • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • Icing:
    • Icing from cinnamon roll packages
    • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened (optional)
    • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (optional)
    • 1–2 tablespoons milk (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Baking Dish:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Pour the melted butter into a 9×13-inch baking dish, ensuring the bottom is evenly coated.
  • Assemble the Casserole:
    • Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and set aside the icing containers.
    • Cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and spread the pieces evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish.
  • Prepare the Egg Mixture:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy whipping cream, ground cinnamon, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Combine and Bake:
    • Pour the egg mixture over the cinnamon roll pieces, ensuring they are well coated.
    • If using, sprinkle the chopped pecans over the top.
    • Drizzle the maple syrup evenly over the entire dish.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the casserole is golden brown and the center is set.
  • Prepare the Icing (Optional):
    • While the casserole bakes, you can enhance the reserved icing by mixing it with softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk to achieve a smoother, creamier consistency.
  • Finish and Serve:
    • Once the casserole is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
    • Warm the reserved (or enhanced) icing slightly in the microwave (about 10–15 seconds) to make it easier to drizzle.
    • Drizzle the icing over the warm casserole.
    • Serve warm, and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a nut-free version, omit the pecans.
  • This casserole pairs well with fresh fruit or a side of crispy bacon.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave before serving.
