Tender, juicy chicken breasts slow-cooked in a rich and creamy gravy. This comforting meal is perfect for busy weeknights and pairs well with mashed potatoes, rice, or your favorite side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 packets chicken gravy mix (about 0.87 oz each)
  • 1 ¼ cups condensed cream of chicken soup (do not dilute)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound total)
  • ½ cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Gravy Mixture: In a bowl, whisk together the water, chicken gravy mix packets, condensed cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, salt, paprika, and black pepper until smooth.

  2. Assemble in Slow Cooker: Place the chicken breasts in the slow cooker and pour the gravy mixture over them, ensuring the chicken is well-coated.

  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.

  4. Finish the Gravy: Carefully remove the chicken breasts from the slow cooker and set them aside. Whisk the sour cream into the gravy in the slow cooker until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

  5. Serve: Return the chicken to the slow cooker, coating it with the gravy. Serve the chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sear the chicken breasts in a skillet before placing them in the slow cooker.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like sliced mushrooms or onions to the slow cooker for a heartier meal.
