Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup fresh strawberries, finely diced

For the Wontons:

  • 20 wonton wrappers
  • Small bowl of water (for sealing edges)
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

For Serving:

  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • Strawberry sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the diced strawberries.
  2. Assemble the Wontons:
Lay a wonton wrapper flat on a clean surface. Place about 1 teaspoon of the cheesecake filling in the center. Dip your finger in water and lightly moisten the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wonton into a triangle, pressing firmly to seal the edges. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  3. Heat the Oil:
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the Wontons:
Carefully add a few wontons to the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 1–2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  5. Serve:
Dust the wontons with powdered sugar and serve warm with strawberry sauce, if desired.

Notes

  • Substitute the fresh strawberries with strawberry jam for a quicker option.
  • These wontons are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in an oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes.
  • Experiment with other fruit fillings like raspberries or blueberries.
