This Cookie Dough French Toast is the perfect combination of a classic breakfast and a sweet treat! For the Edible Cookie Dough:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour (heat-treated*)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

For the French Toast:

  • 6 thick slices of brioche or challah bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk (or half-and-half)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for cooking)

For Toppings (Optional but Recommended!):

  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar
  • Maple syrup
  • Whipped cream

Instructions

1. Make the Edible Cookie Dough:

  1. In a mixing bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  2. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  3. Add the heat-treated flour and salt, mixing until combined.
  4. Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  5. Set aside or refrigerate while preparing the French toast.

2. Prepare the French Toast Batter:

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

3. Cook the French Toast:

  1. Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
  2. Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides evenly.
  3. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Repeat with remaining bread slices, adding more butter as needed.

4. Assemble the Cookie Dough French Toast:

  1. Spread a generous layer of edible cookie dough onto one slice of French toast.
  2. Top with another slice to make a sandwich.
  3. Repeat with the remaining slices.

5. Serve & Enjoy!

  1. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips and powdered sugar.
  2. Drizzle with maple syrup or top with whipped cream.

Notes

To heat-treat flour: Spread it on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes, then let it cool before using.

For extra indulgence, add a drizzle of melted chocolate or a scoop of ice cream on top!

Swap brioche for Texas toast or sourdough if you prefer a heartier texture
