Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar (optional, for a slight tang)

For Garnish (optional):

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • Season the chicken with salt and black pepper.
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce:
    • In the same skillet, add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
    • Add honey, soy sauce, water, and rice vinegar (if using). Stir and bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Combine:
    • Return the cooked chicken to the skillet. Spoon the sauce over the chicken and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the chicken.
  4. Serve:
    • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired. Serve hot with steamed rice or vegetables.

Notes

  • You can use chicken thighs for a juicier result or chicken breasts for a leaner option.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to taste.
  • For a thicker sauce, mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch with 2 teaspoons water and stir it into the sauce.
