This rich and creamy Hot Sausage Beer Cheese Dip is the ultimate crowd-pleaser! Packed with spicy sausage, melted cheese, and the tang of your favorite beer, it’s perfect for game days, parties, or any gathering. Serve it warm with crusty bread, soft pretzels, or chips for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb hot Italian sausage (or use mild sausage for less heat)
  • 1 (12 oz) bottle of beer (lager or ale works best)
  • 4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions (for garnish)
  • Dipping options: pretzels, chips, crusty bread, or vegetables

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the hot Italian sausage, breaking it into crumbles, until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease and set aside.
  2. Sauté garlic: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add beer: Pour in the beer, scraping the bottom of the pan to release any browned bits. Bring to a simmer.
  4. Melt the cheeses: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the cream cheese until fully melted. Gradually add the shredded cheddar and mozzarella, stirring constantly until smooth.
  5. Season the dip: Stir in the smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using). Taste and adjust with salt and pepper.
  6. Combine sausage: Fold in the cooked sausage and mix well.
  7. Serve hot: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl or keep warm in a slow cooker. Garnish with sliced green onions and serve with your choice of dippers.

Notes

  • For a milder flavor, substitute hot Italian sausage with mild sausage or ground beef.
  • Feel free to experiment with different cheeses, such as pepper jack or gouda, for added flavor.
  • To make it gluten-free, use a gluten-free beer and serve with gluten-free dippers.
