Perfect for dipping tortilla chips or drizzling over nachos, it’s easy to make with simple ingredients. Whether for game day, parties, or a casual snack, this cheese dip will be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz white American cheese, shredded or cubed
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small can (4 oz) diced green chiles, undrained
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder (optional, for heat)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the milk and gradually stir in the white American cheese. Stir continuously until the cheese is fully melted and smooth.
  3. Stir in the diced green chiles, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder (if using). Mix well to combine.
  4. Keep the dip warm over low heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or separation.
  5. Pour into a serving bowl, garnish with fresh cilantro if desired, and serve with tortilla chips.

Notes

  • For extra spice, add a finely chopped jalapeño or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if the dip becomes too thick.
  • Use a double boiler or slow cooker to keep the dip warm for extended serving times.
