Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Base:
    • 2 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • For the Caramel Layer:
    • 1 cup caramel candies, unwrapped
    • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • For the Chocolate Layer:
    • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base:
    • Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving overhang on the sides for easy removal.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and brown sugar. Mix until evenly coated.
    • Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared dish to form an even layer. Chill in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  2. Make the Caramel Layer:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the caramel candies with heavy cream in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and pourable.
    • Pour the caramel over the pretzel layer, spreading evenly. Chill again for 10 minutes to set slightly.
  3. Add the Chocolate Layer:
    • In another microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
    • Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer, spreading evenly.
  4. Set and Serve:
    • Refrigerate the bars for at least 2 hours, or until completely set.
    • Once set, lift the bars out of the dish using the parchment paper. Slice into squares or bars.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • For a more festive look, sprinkle crushed pretzels or sea salt on top of the chocolate before it sets.
