Pizza Burgers are the ultimate mash-up of cheesy pizza and juicy burgers. These hearty sandwiches combine seasoned beef patties, tangy marinara sauce, and melty mozzarella cheese, all served on a toasted bun. Perfect for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Patties:

  • 1 pound ground beef (80% lean)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

For the Toppings:

  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese (or shredded mozzarella)
  • 4 hamburger buns (toasted)
  • 16 slices pepperoni (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Patties:

    • In a large bowl, combine ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
    • Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into burger patties.
  • Cook the Patties:

    • Heat a skillet or grill over medium-high heat.
    • Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  • Add the Cheese:

    • During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of mozzarella cheese on each patty. Cover the skillet or grill to let the cheese melt.
  • Assemble the Pizza Burgers:

    • Spread 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
    • Place a cooked patty on top, then layer with 4 slices of pepperoni (if using).
    • Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
    • Add a few fresh basil leaves, if desired.
    • Top with the other half of the bun.
  • Serve and Enjoy:

    • Serve the Pizza Burgers immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries, salad, or garlic bread.

Notes

  • For a crispy texture, toast the buns in a skillet with a little butter or olive oil.
  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or plant-based meat for a different variation.
  • Add toppings like sautéed mushrooms, onions, or bell peppers for extra flavor.
