This easy homemade potsticker sauce is the perfect balance of salty, tangy, sweet, and spicy. Made with soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, and a touch of sesame oil, it’s better than any store-bought version!

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon honey (or brown sugar)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon ginger, grated
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1 teaspoon green onions, finely chopped (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Mix the ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Taste & adjust: Add more honey for sweetness, vinegar for tanginess, or red pepper flakes for spice.
  3. Garnish & serve: Stir in green onions and sesame seeds if using. Serve immediately or let sit for 10 minutes for flavors to meld.

Notes

  • No rice vinegar? Use apple cider vinegar or white vinegar.
  • Want it thicker? Stir in ½ teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 1 tablespoon water, then heat until slightly thickened.
  • Mild version: Skip the red pepper flakes for a less spicy sauce.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
