Ingredients

Scale
  • For the crust:
    • 1 (16 oz) package pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • For the taco meat:
    • 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
    • 1 packet taco seasoning
    • 2/3 cup water
  • For the toppings:
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
    • 1 cup shredded lettuce
    • 1 cup diced tomatoes
    • 1/2 cup sliced black olives
    • 1/4 cup diced red onion (optional)
    • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)
    • Sour cream, for garnish
    • Salsa, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Roll out the pizza dough and press it into a greased sheet pan, stretching it to fit the pan’s edges. Bake the crust for 8–10 minutes, or until it begins to set and turns slightly golden.
  2. Cook the taco meat:
    • While the crust is pre-baking, heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula.
    • Drain any excess grease, then stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  3. Assemble the pizza:
    • Spread the taco meat evenly over the pre-baked crust.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses over the meat.
  4. Bake the pizza:
    • Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Add fresh toppings:
    • Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
    • Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, black olives, red onion, and cilantro. Drizzle with sour cream and serve with salsa on the side.

Notes

  • Feel free to customize the toppings with your favorite taco ingredients like jalapeños, guacamole, or hot sauce.
  • For a vegetarian version, swap the meat for black beans or refried beans.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
