  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract to the bowl and mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Sprinkle a pinch of granulated sugar on top of each cookie for a shimmering effect.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For extra shimmer, use coarse sugar or sparkling sugar for sprinkling.
  • These cookies store well in an airtight container for up to a week.
  • To enhance the maple flavor, consider adding 1/2 teaspoon of maple extract.
