Sugar Cookie Truffles are delightful, no-bake treats that combine the classic flavor of sugar cookies with a creamy center, all coated in a smooth chocolate shell. They’re perfect for holiday gatherings or as a sweet gift. Here’s how to make them

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1215 large sugar cookies (about 2 cups of fine crumbs)
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups white chocolate melting wafers or candy melts
  • Sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cookie Crumbs:
    • Place the sugar cookies in a food processor and pulse until they become fine crumbs.
    • If you don’t have a food processor, place the cookies in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin until finely ground.
  2. Combine with Cream Cheese:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cookie crumbs, softened cream cheese, and vanilla extract.
    • Mix until well combined and a dough-like consistency forms.
  3. Form the Truffles:
    • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, portion out the mixture and roll into 1-inch balls.
    • Place the balls on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Chill:
    • Freeze the truffle balls for about 15-20 minutes to firm them up, making them easier to dip.
  5. Melt the Chocolate:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate wafers in 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring between each interval until smooth.
    • Avoid overheating to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
  6. Dip the Truffles:
    • Remove the truffle balls from the freezer.
    • Using a fork, dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, ensuring it’s fully coated.
    • Gently tap off excess chocolate and place the coated truffle back onto the parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • If desired, immediately add sprinkles on top before the chocolate sets.
  7. Set and Serve:
    • Allow the chocolate coating to set completely.
    • You can speed up this process by placing the truffles in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.
    • Once set, transfer the truffles to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

  • For best results, use firm, store-bought sugar cookies like Pepperidge Farm Sugar Cookies.
  • Ensure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easier mixing.
  • Work quickly when dipping the truffles and adding sprinkles, as the chocolate can set rapidly.
  • These truffles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for up to a month.
