Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
  2. Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
  3. Season the Beef: Add garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the beef. Stir well to combine.
  4. Add Sauce: Pour the marinara or pizza sauce into the skillet with the beef and mix thoroughly. If using diced bell peppers and olives, stir them in now.
  5. Assemble the Casserole: Spread the beef mixture evenly in the bottom of the casserole dish. Top with half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Arrange the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
  6. Add Tater Tots: Layer the frozen tater tots evenly over the top of the casserole.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  8. Add Final Cheese Layer: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the tater tots. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Serve: Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For added flavor, use spicy Italian sausage instead of ground beef.
